I always get people who are confused about how to make their perfume last longer in my retail job. Firstly this obviously depends on your skin, water level, diet as well as genetics. But other than those factors, you can attempt the following hacks that I’m about to tell you all.
1. Choose the right places to spray on!
Pulse points are the places where you need to spray on if you want your perfume to last longer. They are points where the arteries are closest to the surface of the skin, and where you can feel your heartbeat; because it’s warm and it obviously beating, they can give off the smell much stronger. Heat emits the fragrance much stronger hence why it’s recommended to spray behind your ears/on your neck, on your wrist, inside your elbows, behind your knee and on your chest.
2. DO. NOT. RUB.
Many people have got the assumption to always rub after you spray (this is usually done on the wrists). People use the excuse saying it’s because they put too much on so to help let it dry, they rub against their skin. Well guess what! Not only that you’re wasting your perfume, you’re also damaging your skin by rubbing concentrated perfume against your skin the way you do. What doesn’t help either is that you’re actually removing the smell, by removing the layers of the perfume (yes perfume has layers) thus making it so weak to the point where it’ll disappear as soon as you step outta your home. Just have some patience and let it dry naturally; if you think you put on too much, just spray from a distance, it’ll be more stronger than putting a load of perfume and running your wrists together.

3. Oily Skin makes your scent last longer.
Another way to make your perfume long lasting is to make sure you have hydrated skin. Well moisturised skin makes the scent last much better. If you have dry skin, applying petroleum or even a moisturising cream to the warm points before spraying helps a lot as the more hydrated your skin is, the more the scent is gonna last and smell better (SEE WATER LEVEL COUNTS!)
4. Bad For Hair.
Not a tip specifically for making your perfume last, but just a quick note that perfume shouldn’t really be applied directly to your hair, the chemicals will damage your hair so instead, find hair friendly perfumes or mist that won’t actually damage your hair but also give it a really nice smell! Ones I would recommend (have a click to see!) are from Rituals or brands like Chanel, Gucci, Dior, YSL, Balmain which do leave in hair perfume but for the cheaper side, I would suggest VO5 Style for those quick sprays.
Perfume Collection
I thought to mention my perfume collection as well in this post as I actually have a very small perfume collection and most of them are gifts from my lovely frieeeends so why not just showcase it all here!
The perfume tones that I go for are either sweet or floral; the Chanel perfume is more towards the floral jasmine tones; the Dior Poison perfume which is just my absolute faveeee is such a sweet scensous smell and then the Gucci Flora perfume would be more of the floral Mongolian smell.
Nicki Minaj Pink Friday (can't find it online anymore so here's a link to amazon!) and Lancome is more on the sweet side whereas Touch of pink, Versace Intense (quite strong in fragrance) is fruity and floral and then the DKNY blossom as you can tell in the name is floral.
I also use three different zara ones which I would 100% recommend as they are super long lasting and as strong as branded perfumes; the fruity one is a complete dupe of my DKNY orange blossom whereas the Red Vanilla is a dupe of my Lancome perfume and the Gardenia isn’t a dupe of any perfume that I know of but smells SOOO good as its a combination of sweet and floral together which is my go to perfume and I'm absolutely in love with it as it smells amazing as well as such incredible price for such long lasting perfume!
Hopefully these tricks will help your scent last longer on the skin and grab those Zara perfumes, I'm telling you it’ll change your perfume game on another level!
