Realist Review: Baselift - Part 1.

Updated: Jan 25, 2021

HEY hope y’all safe and well during this time - today’s review will be on the products from baselift! Because I’ve gotten alotta things, I decided to split the review in half so welcome to the part 1 review! Baselift is an online skincare company which have a rangeeee of natural products and tools to help improve as well as look after your skin and body.

SO what am I reviewing in this post?

Indian Eraser Clay

Illuminating Rose Clay

Youth Boosting Retinol Cream with Hyaluronic, Vit E & Jojoba Oil

Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid brightening serum

This clay mask is a 100% bentonite power which you mix yourself using either water or apple cider vinegar. I was quite excited to use this because I used the indian healing clay before which worked wonders on my skin. Bentonite clay masks in general is great for purifying your skin, especially if you’re always out where the pollution can clog  up your skin as well as high usage of makeup. Its also amazing for acne prone skin as it has healing properties and help remove extra sebum (the extra oil thats produced on skin, we all get it and its great because its natural oil on the skin but some people may overproduce this, thus they may need something to control it as it be one of the reasons of acne occuring.)

Although it says mix it with a teaspoon of water, I sometimes found it hard to get the perfect consistency as it might be too dry or too runny; you just need to experiment with it by starting with a small teaspoon and adding drops to it for your likings. I would wait for it to dry, which you can tell through the colour as well as how hard it becomes on your face and then wash it off with warm water. Whenever I take this mask off, my face becomes really red for about  half an hour but this is normal as bentonite usually creates this effects because its deeply detoxifying your skin - its like a magnet thats putting out all the toxins. With this mask, I felt this mask makes my red more red than the Indian healing clay so im guessing this is quite strong on the skin and would only recommend this for only skin. I have combination skin so some parts are dry whilst some are oily so for those with combo, I would recommend putting this on the oily parts and put another type of masks on the drier parts.

I usually wear this once every two weeks as mentioned, its quite strong on the skin so I use this treatment as deeplyng cleansing my skin. I have mild acne now and then due to hormones and stress on my forehead and chin so its not severe ache thus I use water over apple cider vinegar and if its quite strong with water then I can imagine how more intense it’ll be with vinegar so I would think twice with apple cider vinegar and do more research whether the skin needs that type of intensity.

On the website it says its suitable for “acne, deep pore cleaning, scars, brightening, psoriasis” and tackles “acne, acne masks and scarring, oily skin, dark sports, uneven skin.” I can defo see this helping me in deep pore cleaning and brighting as well as helping even out scarring of any spots.

This clay mask is kaolin pink clay which is mixed with “rosa rugosa, aloe leaf, jojoba oil. tremella fuciforms, bentonite, rose pollen, ginkgo biloba and rose petals”, which again you also mx with water or apple cider vinegar. I found it easier to create a better consistent with this as one teaspoon of water was enough to get it that perfect texture to apply on the skin.

This mask dries more quicker than the other mask and isn’t so hard when it dries up. I absolutely love this mask as it has several benefits, one including ginkgo bibloba which has really high antioxidant levels and jojoba oil which has vitamin B and E which means that it super high repairing property as it generates new skin cells and reduces redness of the skin. This is also great for dry-normal skin as it set too harsh but still does the job of cleansing your skin and the end result is just amazinggggggg like I could not recommend this enough for everyone.

The website says that its great for “acne, deep pore cleaning, scars, brightening, psoriasis and eczema” and also tackles “blemishes, marks and scarring, dry skin, dark spots and uneven skin tone.”

The difference between the two clay masks

The only difference between the two masks I would say is the harshness on the skin. If you have normal skin with no spots or you don’t have oily skin, I would 100% recommend the rose clay however if you have really oily skin then the bentonite will be perfect because it really takes the dirt out of your skin and giving you a inexpensive facial that really works in taking the toxins out.

If you have both where some are super dry and some are super oily, you can literally always mix and match by applying the Indian eraser clay on the oily such as the t-bone and the rose clay on the drier such as cheek or chin for some.

Now the two products that I am gonna discuss about is products that i've wanted for a long time but after watching ModestStreet’s snapchat stories about them where she weekly uses base lift in her skincare regime.

The way Modest Street described this cream was that the texture of the cream was the most bushiest whipped cream ever and she wasn’t kidding!! The texture is super moisturising as their website says ’super rich, creamy and hydrating’ - they're not lying, it's literally like whipped goodness. Moreover, it contains 'active 2.5% active retinol, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and jojoba oil.’ - so we’ve already established vitamin e and jojoba oil’s amazing repairing properties as well my previous hype on hyaluronic acid but lets talk about retinol. Retinol is a source of vitamin A which is helpful in improving the elasticity of the skin AND creating more skin cells which is great if you have hyperpigmentation or scars because this ingredient will allow them to fade away. I used (and still do some days) the Olay beauty fluid and been using this for as long as I can remember as my mum has been using it since she was young and never found anything to that standard so I would always stick to this cream but this base lift cream I could say its better than the Olay, its just makes a visible difference even after one application and straight after applying it!

Obviously this is great for dry skin, in fact amazing and combo skin can also use this. I could almost say its great even for oily skin only because of the repairing side of it from vit E and the retinol in generating new skin cells. if you do use retinol, make sure not to use it when using things like salicylic acid - do your research and try not to mix certain ingredients!

The website says that its great for “acne, finalises, scars, brightening, pigmentation and hydration” and also tackles “fine lines, marks, wrinkles, dull skin, dark spots, uneven skin tone."

Now this longer exists as they changed it recently, however ill still give my take on this serum!

The key ingredients were ‘Witch hazel, aloe leaf, haematococcus rose canina, chamoilla, water’ -so obviously as it says in the name it has vitamin c and hyaluronic acid; again i've said how amazing this ingredient is, and vitamin c is known for brightening purposes - it was also lightweight which is known to penetrate even more easier into the skin, allow the hydration to be quenched into your skin. It definitely made a difference in terms of brightening my skin and helping with hyperpigmentation.

I would high recommend to put SPF on your face after using the last two products as it could cause sensitivity with the sun.

Ratings and Does it work?

🌿 Indian Eraser Clay: 8/10

🌿 Illuminating Rose Clay: 9/10

🌿 Youth Boosting Retinol Cream: 10/10!!! - fave ever moisturiser!!

🌿 Vit C and Hyaluronic Acid Serum: 9/10

So for sure I would say it does actually make a difference to the skin. Ive been using it on and off since October 2019 (because I wouldnt be looking after my skin so much) and then during quarantine, I used it every week and honestly it made a massive difference in terms of pigmentation and the cream made my skin more plumped and youthful which removed the dullness of my skin.

The routine I use with these products is basically mask first, then after I'd put the serum, wait a min then put the cream. I also do this when I exfoliate my skin using the bodyshop exfoliator, followed by the serum and cream. When i'm feeling lazy, I like to slap on the cream only which also is great as a everyday use - if I had to say to buy one thing out of the four, it would be the cream for sure. currently its out of stock but subscribe to their mailing and wait for restock!

If I had to purchase again, I would buy the cream again and the rose clay, might try out the new hyaluronic acid as the old one seemed effective in brightening up my skin. I wouldn’t purchase the indian clay again for now only purely because its too strong for my skin and I already have two tubs of this, so I wouldn’t purchase until its completely finished which might take a while as I use this like every two/three weeks when I want to fully detoxify my skin - maybe ill able to use it more often now that I'm uni-less and have more time to look after my skin!

‼️ Also as myself and their website says: " Please carry out a patch test prior to using any of the BaseLift products, please use products entirely at your own risk. ‼️

Price and discounts

The prices may seem high but I found discount codes for you guys to use and even the price after the discount code, I think that the prices are really worth it for natural based products, also they have bundles where you could save even more.

I don’t benefit from this code so go for it, use and abuse it;

SHOP60 where you can get 60% off- this can be used on everything however excluding the illuminating rose clay.

But don’t y’allllll worry, I still manage to find a code for that rose clay too which is SHOP30 where you get 30% off only.

ENJOOOY.

Until next timeeee, T x
